PostHeaderIcon The Host Movie

After many attempted to get movie rights for Stephenie Meyer's adult novel The Host,  producers Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz partnering with Nick Weschler finally broke through with a substantial offer and a 'collaborative spirit.'  The film is purported to be written and directed by Andrew Niccol of Gattaca fame.  Seeing as The Host is a science fiction story of the same nature as Gattaca and since she said that she really liked that movie, it can be assumed that this choice had something to do with Stephenie's eventual acquiescence to a film interpretation.*  Stephenie plans to be part of the creative process as she has been with the Twilight films.

The novel, for those who don't know, is about benevolent parasites who invade Earth and take over the human population.**  One of these 'souls,' as they refer to themselves, takes over a young renegade female's body and tries to root out the rest of the humans who are in hiding from the souls.  However, said female is not very accepting and also likes to dream about her boyfriend who may still be in hiding rather a lot, causing an unforeseen reaction in the soul.

Do I dare believe?

Well, since I have photographic evidence, yes, I do.

Mattel is making Twilight Barbie dolls.

"What?" I hear Twilighters around the world say, "Can it be true?"

To which I reply, "Yes!  Look!"

I know everyone in the entire world is excited about this, with the possible exception of those people in Africa who are starving, however--they are only making Edward and Bella.

"But what about Jacob?  What about Alice?  Don't they deserve to be immortalized as Barbies too?" fans are asking.

Well, they probably do, since it would make money for all who are involved, but it would appear that this sort of thing, if it ever occurs, will not happen before the New Moon film is released.

PostHeaderIcon Twilight Graphic Novel!

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but graphic novels are hot these days. They aren’t just for nerd boys anymore. It’s getting harder and harder to make fun of people for liking comic books, because now, comic books are a cultural phenomenon.

In fact, people are making graphic novels of classic and popular books. There are Shakespeare graphic novels, Dean Koontz ones, Anthony Horowitz ones, James Patterson ones . . . so it is only natural that The Twilight Saga is now going to become available in graphic novel format.

It will be published by Yen Press and will feature beautiful artwork by Korean artist Young Kim. Stephenie Meyer is taking a great deal of interest in the project and is even reviewing each panel, so all signs point to it being true to the book.

I often dislike the artwork in graphic novels. I think it’s often way too exaggerated and creepy.

It was recently revealed that Yen Press would be producing graphic novels based on the Twilight Saga and is currently at work on the first in the series.  This graphic novel features artwork by Korean artist Young Kim.  It does have a listing on Amazon but currently a release date has not been set and is not available for pre-order at the current time.  This is mainly due to the fact that it is not finished.
Also, Bluewater Productions is planning a graphic novel for their Female Force line based on the life of Stephenie Meyer.  This line includes biographies of the likes of Hillary Clinton, Princess Diana, and Caroline Kennedy.  This graphic novel does have a release date set at October 28, 2009, and is available for pre-order on Amazon.  It is listed as having 40 pages.
