Do I dare believe?
Well, since I have photographic evidence, yes, I do.
Mattel is making Twilight Barbie dolls.
"What?" I hear Twilighters around the world say, "Can it be true?"
To which I reply, "Yes! Look!"
I know everyone in the entire world is excited about this, with the possible exception of those people in Africa who are starving, however--they are only making Edward and Bella.
"But what about Jacob? What about Alice? Don't they deserve to be immortalized as Barbies too?" fans are asking.
Well, they probably do, since it would make money for all who are involved, but it would appear that this sort of thing, if it ever occurs, will not happen before the New Moon film is released.
Edward and Bella are hitting stores November 1st for the price of $24.95 each. As is the case with almost everything Twilight, Stephenie Meyer has taken quite a bit of interest in the project and helped with the design of these dolls. The main designer for the dolls, Sharon Zuckerman, happens to be an avid Twilight fan, which many would say is the sort of thing that should always happen when someone is designing something based on a fandom but sometimes doesn't. I know there are people in the world who cry about this sort of thing, but for now they will be ignored.
Other dolls could possibly come of this, it has been speculated (mainly by hopeful fans and Barbie doll collectors), but is there really any point in making a Rosalie Barbie? From the description of her in the books, pretty much any generic Barbie would do the trick.
In other words, Barbies who are not tan will soon come into fashion. This shoud bring joy into the hearts of pasty white girls everwhere.
